MARKETING KPI DASHBOARD: THE NUMBERS AN OWNER CAN ACT ON
A marketing KPI dashboard should shorten the distance between a number and a decision. If the owner sees only impressions, clicks, and leads, the report stops before the business result. Start with the questions the leadership team asks each week, then show the few measures that answer them.

BUILD THE SPINE OF THE SCORECARD
Show spend and inquiries by campaign, then answered or worked leads, qualified opportunities, proposals or estimates, closed sales, and revenue. Add margin where available and appropriate. Make definitions visible: a booked inspection is not a sold job, and an MQL is not a quote.
Include a time dimension that matches the sales cycle. A month of leads can become sales later. Cohort views and stage aging help prevent the team from judging a campaign too early or overlooking stalled work.
MAKE DATA QUALITY VISIBLE
Show unknown-source share, unmatched calls, missing opportunity value, duplicate contacts, and records without an owner. These are operational measures, not embarrassing footnotes. If they move in the wrong direction, the revenue view is less trustworthy.
Use a consistent source taxonomy and documented joins. Keep an audit trail for changes to stages, mappings, and targets. A custom KPI system is worthwhile when standard tools cannot reflect the company’s actual buying and fulfillment process.
RUN THE MEETING AROUND DECISIONS
In the weekly review, ask what changed, what caused it, who owns the next action, and when to check again. One page of decision-ready metrics beats a dense dashboard nobody uses. Segment by service line, location, or account type only when those cuts alter a decision.
Pair the dashboard with qualitative evidence: call samples, sales notes, customer objections, and field feedback. Numbers tell you where to look; they rarely explain the whole story alone.
THE NEXT MOVE
TURN REPORTING INTO ACTION.
Design the joins and KPIs around the decisions your owner and team actually make.
